Eden Oak, known primarily for its townhouse projects in the Woodbridge area, currently is building single-family homes at Vellore Park, a master-planned community in Vaughan.
The company will construct about 250 traditional two-storey residences amid parks and ponds. They will include single-family homes linked at the garages, and fully detached houses on 25-, 30- and 40-foot lots. The 30-foot lots will go on the market before the end of the month.
On Weston Road north of Major MacKenzie Drive, Vellore Park is being developed along with Lormel Homes, Greenpark Homes and Firstview Homes.
Eden Oak is building in two different sections of the site. In one, closing dates are immediate, while in the other, move-in dates are scheduled for 2007.
Since the project was launched 1½ years ago, the builder has sold about 150 houses. It has attracted everyone from first-time buyers to families looking for a home close to amenities such as schools, a recreation centre and the GO station.
Brick and stone façades will be complemented by coach-style streetlights.
Some exteriors will have vinyl accents, covered porches, balconies or two-storey porticos.
The open-concept interiors will feature hardwood floors, and main or second-floor laundry rooms. There will be islands in the kitchens, glass and ceramic shower stalls in the bathrooms, and cold cellars in the basements.
Houses on 40-foot lots will boast double-car garages and cathedral ceilings, and some models will have transom windows above the front entrance or half-circle windows above gas fireplaces. Dens or second-floor lofts will be featured in others.
The developer currently is offering buyers a bonus of five appliances or a package of upgrades.
From the site, residents will have easy access to highways 400 and 7. For entertainment, there are movie theatres and plenty of shops at Vaughan Mills, and along Weston Road and Major MacKenzie.
The Kortright Centre for Conservation and the Boyd Conservation Area, home of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, are not far away.
