Daniels Corp. wants potential buyers to fully appreciate the setting of its new luxury, boutique-style condominium in Oakville's prestigious Lakeshore Woods community.

The Woods of Aubergine, as it is called, will be a mid-rise building set on a five-acre site that's surrounded by 25 acres of old-growth forest.

Patios as big as 300 square feet will allow first-floor residents to connect with the outdoors, landscaped grounds will include plants that are native to the area, and a woodlot of more than an acre on the site will left in its natural state.

"We really want to make sure the building and residents are able to take advantage of that naturalness of that piece of property," says vice-president of low-rise housing, Don Pugh. "The site is so spectacular."

Sales will begin next month at the development, which will include 99 units between two four-storey buildings linked by a 1½-storey podium near the intersection of Rebecca Street and Great Lakes Boulevard.

A central 6,500-square-foot recreation centre - with a "cottage boutique" look created by Hudson Kruse Design - will offer a lounge with Wi-Fi Internet access, fitness studio and media room with theatre-style seating and surround sound.

A catering kitchen, bistro tables and a fireplace will complete the party room.

"That connects - through glass doors - to a patio that goes out to an outdoor fireplace setting that is right on the edge of the woodlot," Mr. Pugh notes.

Individual suites will have large windows and a balcony or patio. The latter will range from 120 to 300 square feet and back on to the woodlot in many cases.

"It's going to be like having your own backyard, like you'd have in a low-rise home," Mr. Pugh states.

The company says empty-nesters to young professionals have already registered to learn more about the collection of one and two bedroom plans - with or without dens - and three-bedroom models available.

Interiors will be decorated with prefinished hardwood floors and porcelain or ceramic tiles. Open-concept or more traditional kitchens will feature granite countertops and pot lights.

Maintenance fees are not available yet, but hydro and gas will be individually metered.

Occupancy is expected to begin late next summer.

Natural amenities beyond the site include golf courses, parks and trails leading to Lake Ontario. The established area includes schools, community centres and recreation facilities, in addition to shops, restaurants and galleries.

Downtown Toronto is a 30-minute drive away.
