The Action: The last vacancy in a lowrise near Todmorden Mills was in 2007, so this townhouse loft was a rare find for house hunters and a mystery to neighbours. The Agent’s Take: “It was a social club of some sort, so when men were coming back from the war, they were actually having gatherings here … and changed into a dance hall,” agent Julie Hughes said. “In 1986, it was developed into townhouse condos. There isn’t anything like this layout in Toronto overlooking the city.”
Buyers were fascinated by the design of even utilitarian spaces. “Great open red stairs leading you up five semi-flights of stairs gave an open, contemporary feeling to the townhouse,” Ms. Hughes said.
“The rooftop patios were a real crowd pleaser [given] the view and a private garage under the townhouse with its own locker made it a very different style of townhouse.”
