LISTING AGENTS Jenelle Cameron, Laura Golbeck and Miranda Mckenna, Re/Max Hallmark Realty Inc.
The Action: Birchcliffe residences generally sell in a month’s time, but on a street by the lake styles vary widely, from original bungalows to renovated dwellings, there is little turnover and a lot of demand. For instance, once this detached bungalow was privately listed by agent and owner, Jenelle Cameron, the first visitor made an offer.
What They Got: This roughly 80-year-old bungalow was designed with wood beams and glass finishes, entertaining areas with gas and wood-burning fireplaces and a couple walkouts to the patio, 50-by-120-foot grounds and garage.
There is 2,000 square feet of space on each level to accommodate two main-floor bedrooms, an updated kitchen, formal dining space, a family room and sunroom addition, along with a guest suite and two of three remodeled bathrooms in the basement.
The Agent’s Take: “Birchcliffe is a great neighbourhood east of the Beach in Toronto. It sits on the Bluffs and there’s a lot more space than in the inner city pockets, yet you’re really close to everything,” Ms. Cameron said.
“You’re in amongst some really unusual and unique homes – most of them sit on the water or have a view of the lake – and it’s almost like cottage country with no sidewalks and it’s very quiet and peaceful with a lot of wildlife.”
This home’s design also complements its surroundings “This is a totally unique home, probably unlike any other. It’s very mid-century modern with all glass and wood, it looks a lot like a ski chalet,” Ms. Cameron said.
“This particular home is great because it sits right on the Bluff and you have a wonderful view of the Lake Ontario.”
