The back story

There's little chance the future owners of Suite 4804 at the Residences of the Ritz-Carlton will become tired of the scene beyond their glass-walled living room.

The south-west vista stretches to the horizon of Lake Ontario, while the foreground action includes planes landing and taking off at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, the passenger elevator on the outside of the CN Tower, and a clear view of the Blue Jays playing baseball in the Rogers Centre.

"When the roof is open you can see the games," says real estate agent Cynthia Goodchild of Chestnut Park Real Estate Ltd.

The condo unit offers 3,440 square feet of living space with a rare three bedrooms plus library. The lay-out includes four bathrooms, a combined living and dining room and a kitchen with a separate breakfast area.

Ceilings are 10 feet high. The elevator delivers guests straight to the suite and its formal foyer, while a separate service entrance lets caterers come and go from a hallway near the kitchen.

The palette was chosen by Kate Zeidler Interior Design. The bright white kitchen has stainless steel appliances, a large built-in refrigerator, a centre island of walnut wood and marble countertops.

"Kate sexied it up with the finishes," says Ms. Goodchild.

A large master bedroom offers a lake view, two walk-in closets and an en suite bathroom with heated limestone floors, a walk-in glass shower enclosure and warming rails for the bath towels.

The unit has high-tech gadgetry throughout, with a theatre system and iPod docking stations in many of the rooms.

The building

New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox designed the building, which is close to Roy Thomson Hall and a short walk from Bay Street.

"A lot of people in this building are in the financial industry," says Ms. Goodchild.

As well as the condo suites, the 267 guest rooms of the Ritz-Carlton hotel are located in the 53-storey tower. One bustling lobby serves the hotel guests while a quieter entrance next door lets residents slip in and out.

An elevator takes residents to another lobby on the 21st floor. Common spaces include a roof terrace, a theatre and meeting rooms.

The best feature

The residents have access – for a fee – to all of the amenities of the Ritz, says Ms. Goodchild. Those perks include room service, a spa, salon, pool and fitness centre in the hotel.

The restaurant, TOCA, offers a farm-to-table menu, while the bar is a popular place for drinks after the stock market's final bell.
