DAYS ON THE MARKET Four

LISTING AGENT Bill Thom, Re/Max Realtron Realty Inc.

The Action: Just before market activity slowed down for the summer, this detached, two-storey residence had less than two dozen visitors sign up for private showings. But in among the few was one couple who quickly presented their strongest bid.

What They Got : On a 50-by 119-foot lot at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, this roughly 20-year-old brick house accommodates four bedrooms, four bathrooms and several entertaining areas indoors and out, plus a main floor laundry room with access to the double garage.

The first floor was designed with a living room, dining room and library, all with French doors, as well as a fireside family room off an eat-in kitchen with a walkout to a deck with a gas hookup and a secluded, south-facing backyard.

An upper deck is located off the master suite, which also has a walk-in closet and a six-piece bathroom.

Stylish appointments include nine-foot ceilings, cornice mouldings, hardwood and ceramic tile floors and new carpet runners on the winding staircase.

The Agent's Take : "The basement is not finished, but the rest of the house holds up pretty well with a good layout and it's in good condition," says agent Bill Thom. "And it has a balcony of the master bedroom, which is a good feature."

Unlike older homes nearby, this one also provide lots of space to roam. "On this cul-de-sac, the houses are pretty much the same size, but compared to the others on surrounding streets, this is a bigger house," Mr. Thom explains.
