LISTING AGENTS Douglas and Trevor Freeman, Freeman Real Estate Ltd.
The Action: The owners of this updated, detached home planned to sell it themselves, but decided to call in agents Douglas and Trevor Freeman who did everything from advertising online to hosting agents-only and public open houses virtually every day. The team hoped to review offers after one week of exposure, but on the fifth day, a buyer presented a bid of $775,000, which was beyond what the sellers anticipated receiving without using realtors.
What They Got: This 1970s house on a 50-by-110-foot lot has many trappings of a modern family home with separate living and dining rooms with hardwood floors and crown mouldings and a family room off the eat-in kitchen with custom cabinetry, a stone fireplace and a walkout to a patio and secluded yard.
Sleeping quarters consist of four carpeted bedrooms on the second floor, including a master suite with a walk-in closet and access to one of four remodelled bathrooms, as well as a guest bedroom by the lower-level recreation room.
Conveniences include a central vacuum system, main floor laundry room and double attached garage.
The Agent’s Take: “It’s an in-demand area,” says agent Douglas Freeman, who explains this particular property is on a busier residential street. “It was priced at the bottom of its level to get people into the house.”
Once inside, its modern style and design won over buyers. “It had a very large kitchen and family room that was totally renovated with tile floors and granite counters,” Mr. Freeman said.
“The dining area in this kitchen had a dining table that could probably hold 12 [seats] , so this – plus a big kitchen – made this one big area.”
