What They Got: Over the past few years, this roughly 80-year-old dwelling was permanently improved with new windows, roof and mechanics, as well as a remodeled lower-level bathroom with laundry facilities off the recreation room, a master suite with a custom wall-to-wall solid oak and maple closet and an attic with skylights, storage and insulation.

Traditional trims and French doors remain in areas such as the fireside living and dining rooms, along with a claw foot tub, ceramic floors and wainscoting in the bathroom amidst the three bedrooms.

The Agent’s Take: “This house was such a great buy on one of the most desirable and quiet streets in Bloor West Village, where houses on the same street have recently been selling for over a million,” says Ms. Grant, referring to detached homes. “The presentation and staging really did wonders to highlight the lovely features of this home.”

For instance, its makeover enhanced its unique design. “It had a different layout than what most people were used to, with a kitchen at the back with a big bay window, stairs in the middle of the dining room to the second floor and a third-floor loft had stairs that pulled down,” Ms. Grant notes.

“It had lots of beautiful original features like leaded glass French doors, wainscoting and wood trims.”
