Tridel Corp. and Concert Properties have launched a new a condominium project in one of Toronto’s most affluent neighbourhoods with luxury residences designed to mimic the million-dollar estates that surround it in Lawrence Park.

Each suite in the nine-storey building, called Blythwood at Huntington, will have two-bedroom plans ranging between 1,000 and 3,000 square feet.

“For someone to move from a large home to a condominium … maybe they need less bedrooms, hallways and stairways, but still want their formal living area, dining area and large master ensuite,” says Jim Ritchie, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Tridel.

“At Huntington, we’re trying to provide a condominium lifestyle without sacrificing what they’ve been accustomed to in terms of size.”

The lush ravine setting of the 118-unit mid-rise – off Bayview Avenue and across from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind – may also account for the swift sale of nearly 70 per cent of the project, which is currently under construction and slated for completion by next spring

“I can’t think many other communities that are actually nestled into a ravine such as we have here,” says Mr. Ritchie. “In terms of brand new condominium product, we’re really the only one in Lawrence Park.”

All models still available will offer open entertaining areas, outdoor space and two ensuite bathrooms, plus some will have the additional comfort of enclosed studies, laundry rooms with sinks and casual family rooms.

“It’s much like what you’d get in a house, but the big difference is that everything is on one floor,” says Mr. Ritchie. “We don’t have staircases, so it makes it much more efficient.”

Irpinia kitchens will have open, galley-style or U-shaped configurations with extended cabinetry, granite or quartz counters and stainless steel Energy Star appliances, plus pantries in some models.

Standard appointments will be upscale, such as nine-foot ceilings, cornice mouldings, engineered hardwood floors, porcelain tiles and broadloom carpeting. Upgraded versions of these finishes will appear in the penthouses.

Like the individual suites, Chapman Design Group will select high-calibre decor for common areas, from the pool, fitness, weight and yoga studios to the boardroom, dining room and party space with a kitchen, bar and terrace.

Nature-inspired motifs, such as leaves, branches and green hues will be subtle reminder of the commitment to utilizing eco-friendly materials and construction practices to meet the high standards set out by the Canada Green Building Council.

Local attractions include the esteemed Rosedale Golf Club, the Granite Club and Edwards Gardens, along with a mix of trendy and established boutiques, cafés and restaurants on Bayview Avenue, Eglinton Avenue and Yonge Street.

Each unit will have designated parking and a monthly fee of 56 cents per square foot.
