Within good time, a handful of buyers booked private showings, including some Vancouverites who preferred short ferry rides to this address rather than long flights to cheaper American counterparts, explains agent Bruce Lasuta.

The Agent’s Take: “Myself and fellow real estate agents on the Sunshine Coast have been seeing an increasing number of buyers this year making the 40-minute scheduled ferry boat crossing over from West Vancouver to purchase homes for far, far less than comparable properties in their neighbourhoods,” Mr. Lasuta said.
“The numerous recreational pursuits literally at our doorsteps, such as kayaking, fishing, hiking, aquatic sports, abundance of public parks and loads of wildlife wandering throughout the area … is a strong enticement to buyers from the Lower Mainland.”
Though there are some trophy homes in the area, buyers liked that this one has more character.
“If you’re looking for a little cottage you can run away to, this one has a wood stove, lots of windows, wood and trees all around it, so it’s quiet,” Mr. Lasuta said. “It has exposed posts and beams and vaulted ceiling … so it makes it feel like there’s more square footage.”
