ARIES (March 21-April 20) You will continue to get surprises – some good, some not so good – throughout the year with Uranus in your sign, but change always works for the best in the long term, so don’t fight it. Mars and Jupiter combine in the domestic area of your chart in July, making this the ideal month to move house. More important, it will also give you a chance to patch up your differences with loved ones or neighbours. If you need a mantra to guide you through the next 12 months, try this: Life is not a war, and people are not the enemy. A more relaxed attitude will bring abundance on every level.Cinders McLeod

TAURUS (April 21-May 21) The period around your birthday is going to be hectic, so pace yourself sensibly and conserve as much physical, mental and emotional energy as you can over the next few months. The lunar eclipse in Scorpio on April 25 will encourage you to question whether certain relationships are still worth the effort, and the solar eclipse in your sign on May 10 could inspire you to start over in some way. Remember: Any day can be a new beginning, giving you 365 opportunities to get it right over the coming year. You are an irresistible force and no obstacle can stand against you for long.Cinders McLeod

GEMINI (May 22-June 21) Jupiter, planet of luck and laughter, remains in your sign until late June, giving you plenty of time to enjoy yourself before turning your attention to more serious issues. The moon’s eclipse of Jupiter on Feb. 18 makes this an especially good time to forge relationships with people who share your emotional outlook on life, and since it almost coincides with Valentine’s Day, a new love affair is in the cards. The second half of 2013 is about partnerships of a less personal nature and how you can make them pay financially and professionally. Who you know matters as much as what you know.Cinders McLeod

CANCER (June 22-July 23) You are coming to the end of an introspective phase, and when Jupiter moves into your sign on June 26, it will feel as if you have been reborn – and in a way you will. Mars also moves in your favour, especially from June 13 to Aug. 28, encouraging you to throw off your cautious Cancerian nature and dive into activities that challenge you creatively. Don’t waste time lamenting what you should have done last year – the only thing that matters is what you do next. Make it extraordinary. Make it outrageous. If you can imagine it, you can do it. If not now, when?Cinders McLeod

LEO (July 24-Aug. 23) Life has been curiously tame of late – by your standards anyway – and no doubt you are eagerly thinking of ways to spice things up again. By the time Mars moves into the most adventurous area of your chart on March 12, you will be making waves on the work front and pushing boundaries in your private life. But watch out for the lunar eclipse on May 25 as it could tempt you to move so far beyond what is considered acceptable that even your friends turn against you. That aside, 2013 looks like a splendid year, the kind where you are rarely out of the spotlight, or the money.Cinders McLeod

VIRGO (Aug. 24-Sept. 23) Travel plans will have to be put on hold in February when Saturn, planet of restriction, begins one of its retrograde phases, but that’s fine because an event closer to home needs to be dealt with first. This is one of those situations you can’t run away from, so use your formidable intellectual powers to identify what the problem is, then deal with it in a logical (that is, non-emotional) fashion. When Saturn turns direct again on July 8, you will be free to follow your heart with a clear head and, more importantly, a clear conscience, having done what was expected of you – and done it well.Cinders McLeod

LIBRA (Sept. 24-Oct. 23) It may take a while for 2013 to get going, but once it does, there will be no stopping you. May’s combination of a lunar eclipse and Mars moving in your favour will confront you with a choice on which the rest of the year hinges. Follow your dream and don’t let anyone tell you that doing so makes you selfish. You alone have the right to decide the direction of your life, since you alone have to live with the consequences. Come Dec. 7, when Mars moves into your sign, you should be able to look back and celebrate one of your most successful years ever.Cinders McLeod

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 22) Saturn and Pluto continue to dominate your affairs, bringing transformative experiences by the month, the week, the day and sometimes even by the hour. Pluto’s retrograde phase from mid-April to mid-September will calm things down a little, but only on the outside – on the inside, your head and your heart will still be buzzing with new ideas and new emotions, all of which will need to be made sense of and allotted their proper place in your world. Whoever you think you are now, it’s fair to say you will be a different person come this time next year. Better, maybe, but vastly differentCinders McLeod

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21) Wealth and wisdom are keywords for you in 2013. If you are the sort of Sagittarian who tends to leave material matters to fate, you may find that’s no longer good enough. Jupiter’s change of signs on June 26 will bring prosperity in one guise or another, but if you take what you gain for granted, it could just as easily escape you again. A business partnership of some kind will encourage you to take responsibility not just for your own money but for other people’s too. If you make the right calls, you could very quickly grow rich in the second half of the year.Cinders McLeod

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) The key date for you this year is March 8 when Saturn, your ruler, links to Pluto, planet of power. Whatever plans you made before then will have to be abandoned as changing circumstances bring new opportunities and demand the kind of commitment you were previously reluctant to give. Whatever your status or social standing may be, the cosmic powers have something special lined up for you. Can any one person change the future? They can if they have the intelligence to see what needs to be done, and the talent and the determination to carry it through to completion. Your call.Cinders McLeod/The Associated Press

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21-Feb. 19) Make the most of Mars in your sign until Feb. 2 to get the year off to the best possible start. That will be easier if you are honest with yourself about what you really want out of life – and reject what friends and family say you should want. You did not choose to come here to be moved around like a pawn on someone else’s chessboard – you came here to be a creative and dynamic individual, in charge of your own destiny. Your resolution for 2013 must be to listen at all times to what your inner voice tells you, and to act on it without hesitation, guilt or remorse.Cinders McLeod

PISCES (Feb. 20-Mar. 20) Neptune in your sign continues to bring out all that is good in your nature, but it also brings up highly personal issues that need to be dealt with. The only way you will be happy, this year or any other year, is to be true to who you really are, but do you know who that is? A wonderful Jupiter-Neptune link on July 18 will awaken the higher aspects of your personality, bringing not only harmony on an inner level but in your dealings with the world at large. It seems you have a special message to give to mankind: that love was, is and always will be the answer to every question.Cinders McLeod
