Kate Middleton's fashion choices have been attracting press since early into her relationship with Prince William. Since the engagement, she's proved her sophisticated elegance will fit right in with her new life as royalty.
The rest of Kate's outfit, veering away from the royal blues and reds she's donned lately. Instead the neutral coat's contrast with the black details leaves plenty of room for a feathered headpiece on top.

In her last public appearance before her wedding, Kate wears a sleek Amanda Wakeley skirt suit. The shade of blue perfectly matches the 12-carat oval sapphire given to her by her fiancee and presumably, it's hardly a coincidence.

Another example of Kate's almost intrinsic ability to put large plummage on her head, this time at the wedding of Laura Parker Bowles in May 2006.

A paisley coat becomes decidedly less prim with impeccable tailoring and a show of skin, a Middleton signature. Like most Royals, she’s not immune to dressing up by adding the odd plumage.

Kate Middleton arrives at City Hall, in Belfast, Northern Ireland March 8, 2011. It was the couple's first visit to Northern Ireland. The dapper coat proves that she's the perfect English gentlewoman.

Her affinity for affordable finds at High Street shops such as Top Shop and Oasis suggests she’s a princess of the people, but Ms. Middleton also scores top points for effortless eveningwear in a gown by London-based label Issa.

Ms. Middleton loves playful prints but won’t go overboard. Same goes for skin: A flash of long, lean leg and minimal makeup goes a long way.

Detail of Kate Middletons's hairpiece, this time decidedly less feathery that what we've seen from her in the past . She wore this to a Naming Ceremony and Service of Dedication for the Royal National Lifeboat Instution's (RLNI) new Atlantic 85 Lifeboat, the 'Hereford Endeavour', at Trearddur Bay Lifeboat Station, in Trearddur Bay, Anglesey in north Wales February 24, 2011.
She may opt for understatement over ostentatious, but it’s never boring. Take this slick, structured red coat: It reads more cool than calculated.

A slick black skirt suit is far from matronly on Ms. Middleton. She’s got the proportions down: knee-length but skin-tight, paired with an unfussy flowing mane.

Way to colour co-ordinate, Kate. For the engagement announcement, she sported another body-conscious dress, this time in slinky sapphire. Perhaps to match her new bling?
