Kate's outfit for the royal couple's tour of Prince Edward Island is a nautical-inspired look created by the designer who came up with her wedding gown.
The Duchess of Cambridge appeared in Charlottetown today wearing a cream-coloured knit dress from Sarah Burton for the British fashion house of Alexander McQueen.
The dress featured a necktie reminiscent of a naval neckerchief, complete with an anchor and navy trim. It also featured navy stripe detailing encircling the sleeves and waistband, as well as the flared hemline of the skirt.
Burton was the designer of the much-anticipated bridal gown worn by Kate for her April 29 nuptials to Prince William, which earned largely favourable reviews for its elegance and simplicity.
The meticulously crafted gown featured hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace used throughout both the bodice and skirt. Individual flowers were hand-cut from lace and appliqued onto ivory silk tulle.
With the exception of a pair of dresses designed by Montreal-born designer Erdem Moralioglu and a navy blazer created by Toronto-based label Smythe, the duchess has mostly stuck to U.K. labels during the Canadian tour, her first official visit abroad.
