From meh-worthy to OMG-can-you-believe-they-got-hitched, here'’s the list of celebrity engagements and weddings that blessed 2012 with their presence
Being the most normal, most successful and arguably most attractive of the Baldwin brothers it’s kind of surprising it took so long for Alec to marry (for the second time). I guess that says more about Stephen, Daniel and Billy.Scott Gries
Can you believe that this was Ryan Reynolds’ third engagement? Yup. First was Alanis Morisette back in 2004 (though the Canadian mega-couple never married). Then there was Scarlett Johansson in 2008. And then Ms. Blake Lively, whom he started dating while they shot Green Lantern together. Sure puts Blake’s no-previous-engagements to shame. Reynolds and Lively tied the knot in September.
There was a point back in 2011 when it didn’t look like Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were going to make it. But after a short hiatus they were back together and less than a year later, strolling down the aisle. Between his love life and his career, it seems Justin has mastered the art of the comeback.Charles Sykes/The Associated Press
Sure the world didn’t end in 2012. But endless gossip about whether or not Jennifer Aniston was engaged screeched to a halt when she and fiancé Justin Theroux confirmed it this summer. But that doesn’t mean she’ll be clear of the 2013 rumour mill. I mean, really, how long is it until the “engagement is off” stories start being churned out?
The word love will now formally be changed to Chavril in all Canadian dictionaries. Poor Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne received much mocking upon announcing their surprise engagement, but I have to say “Good for you, Avril.” Chad Kroeger is a step-up from Derek Wembley. Right? Maybe more of a step sideways, I guess.Robb Dipple/The Canadian Press
