Love Potion No. 9 Add to ...

From earliest times, love potions were considered essential to help nature along. They were often brewed with herbs, spices and other ingredients that some people still consider aphrodisiacs -- ginger, coriander, lemons, onions, garlic, chilies, honey, milk and eggs. I have included a love potion to serve before dinner to put you in the mood.

  • Servings: 2


2 cups milk 2 tablespoons honey 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind 2 egg yolks ½ cup dark rum or brandy


Combine milk, honey, lemon rind and ginger in a pot. Bring to boil and remove from heat.

Whisk together egg yolks and rum. Slowly pour in hot milk mixture and stir together. Serve warm or cool in tall glasses.
