While it took a team of stylists, makeup and hair pros, art directors, photo editors, photographers and assistants to create Globe Style's new look, Daisy Ashie is its most recognizable face.
She's the babe simultaneously gracing the stage of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts and the section's front page this Saturday. If she looks familiar, that's because you've seen her on our pages before. In 2008, Ghana-born Ashie elevated the status of cheapie summer dresses in a photo spread. In 2009, she showcased the best and brightest of Canadian design in our lead-up to Toronto Fashion Week.
But she wasn't alone at the Four Seasons Centre. Also starring in our fashion shoot is Jessica Lewis, a Toronto native who has modeled in New York, Paris, Madrid, Tokyo and Korea. She might look familiar, too. Her glossy background includes shoots for W magazine, Flare and Vogue Traveller. Could we have been any luckier?
But let's not forget the people you don't see on our glossy pages. Among them are stylist Alon Freeman, who waded through three heaving racks of frothy dresses, countless shoes and blinding jewels to bring you the opulent looks. Vanessa Jarman and David Goveia, our hair and makeup artists, worked their magic to echo the fifties-inspired fashion. Photographer Matthew Stylianou made all that chaos look elegant and serene.
As they say, it takes a village. We hope you enjoy the new look and feel of Style as much as we enjoy bringing it to you.
