Paula Abdul
In our eyes, she'll always be the ex-Laker Girl who romanced Keanu Reeves in the video for Rush, Rush , but to a whole new generation, Paula Abdul is the sometimes spacey judge on American Idol who almost always has something nice to say.
And in true Idol spirit, Abdul is getting charitable by cleaning out her closet for a great cause: an online auction to raise money for American Humane's Pets and Women's Shelters program.
While some of the pieces are clearly spandex relics from Abdul's days as an in-demand choreographer, there are still goodies by big names such as D&G and Vivienne Westwood in the mix.
A cursory look on the auction site (www.ebay.com/paulaabdul) didn't locate the marabou-trimmed bra from the Keanu video, but we're still holding out hope.
Moscow
Although Forbes recently named Paris as the most stylish city in the world, Moscow is having a fashion moment in its own right.
On the heels of Chanel's tribute show in the frosty city (which was packed with Russian-inspired looks) comes an illustration by model Sasha Pivovarova, commissioned by Karl Lagerfeld to mark the occasion. Pivovarova says her drawing, pictured above, was inspired by “fairy-tale characters coming to life in one of the main theatres of Moscow.”
Good on you, Sasha. Kaiser Karl has never asked us for anything, and if he ever did it would probably be to lose 60 pounds before he could even deign to look our way and demand a Coke Zero.
Sasha Fierce for Dereon
If Beyoncé wears Balmain, Sasha Fierce wears … House of Dereon? Yup, Women's Wear Daily reports the superstar's mystical alter ego is the inspiration behind a new junior clothing line called Sasha Fierce for Dereon.
Dereon, of course, is the dodgy line B designs with her mother, Tina Knowles, and judging by recent comments from Mama K, the new collection will be equally unfierce: “It was [Beyoncé's] suggestion to line the rips of the jeans with the mesh and lace,” she recently told WWD.
Yeah, we bet it was. For Sasha's sake, we hope her one redeeming look, the awesome robot glove from the Singles Ladies video, is included.
