THE BUY / ABSOLUT VANCOUVER BOTTLE

While the art world is no stranger to a bit of self-indulgence - take, for example, the late hard-partying virtuoso Dash Snow - the latest launch from Absolut has artistic spirit in mind, minus the debauchery.

The vodka maker has partnered with acclaimed Canadian digital artist and illustrator Douglas Fraser on its most recent city-themed bottle. Previous places to have graced the jug include Los Angeles, Boston and New Orleans, but Fraser's limited-edition pays homage to Vancouver, the first Canadian city to be featured by Absolut.

Fraser's vibrant design - a bold yellow and blue seaplane floating above the West Coast city's skyline - is meant to represent whatt it's like to live, work and play in Vancouver. In turn, those who down the hooch will be glad to know that they'll be supporting the local art community as they live it up - up to $120,000 from sales will be donated toward a new city-wide art project.

The launch coincides with a call to action for artists to propose how the money will be spent. (See the finalists and vote for your favourite at http://www.absolutvancouver.ca.) So far, concepts include an outdoor gallery, a show of affordable art and a glass-works installation, with the winning entry to be announced in 2010.

We love mixing up a little patronage with our Patron. But vodka is even better.

Available exclusively in British Columbia for $25.95.
