A Target store in Newark, Calif.Paul Sakuma

Will scoring a bargain at Target feel as much of an accomplishment when you no longer have to drive across the border?

The U.S. retailer announced today it is taking over the leases of most of the Zellers stores in Canada, and will open 100 to 150 Target stores across the country in 2013 and 2014. (Send us photos of your best Target bargains here).

Few big box stores have the same cult following as the Minneapolis-based chain. (Its nickname even appears as an entry in UrbanDictionary.com: "Calling 'Target' by the moniker 'Tarjay' aims to make the shopping experience seem more upscale than it really is." An entry for Zellers? Not so much.)

And on Facebook, the "I went to Target to buy shampoo, and I spent $150" group has nearly 108,000 "likes."

"Target is AMAZING! And now that I can grocery shop there, its [sic]even better than before!!," one fan writes on the group's wall.

What does Target have that Canadian retailers don't? What's the best thing you've ever bought there?
