Did Beyoncé hog the Super Bowl spotlight? Add to ...

Did you see Beyoncé's performance at the Super Bowl last night? Amazing, right?

As Billboard magazine reports, her half-time show "was easily one of the best ever," while the Los Angeles Times says her performance allowed her to bounce back from speculation that she lip-synched her way through The Star Spangled Banner during the presidential inauguration. (Some even suggested that her spectacular show caused the partial blackout at the Superdome during the third quarter.)

But did Beyoncé selfishly hog all the glory from her former Destiny's Child mates?

Slate's Julia Turner thinks so. Turner says Beyoncé "chose to be stingy about sharing the spotlight" with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, who reunited as a group for the Super Bowl event.

As Turner points out, instead of belting out a full rendition of the pop group's famous tunes, Beyonce asked her mates to "help" her sing her own solo track, Single Ladies.

Was that a faux pas? It seems plenty of people say yes.

Turner quotes a Twitter message from Slate's David Weigel: "Sort of gauche for Beyonce to make the Destiny's Children sing her solo work. Like Beatles reuniting and singing 'Mull of Kintyre,'" referencing a song from Paul McCartney's Wings.

Another Twitter user echoed the sentiment: "I don't want to hate on Queen Bey, but this Slate article is true. She could have at least turned their mics up."

"I love Bey, but this is so on point," wrote yet another who retweeted the Slate article.

What do you think? Should Beyonce have paid greater homage to the band that launched her to superstardom?
