TOM BRADBY POLITICAL EDITOR, ITV NEWS interviews Prince William and fiancee Kate middleton. ITN News

Princess-to-be Kate Middleton is quietly letting the positive comparisons with the late Princess Diana pile up - the most symbolic of all being that she's wearing the same sapphire engagement ring as her iconic mother-in-law. Now, a more everyday item, a purse, is linking the women.

Yes, cross royal watchers with fashion watchers and you're bound to get details like this, people.

According to the Telegraph, Ms. Middleton has been toting a grey version of Diana's favourite bag by the Italian luxury maker Tod's.

A slight hiccup: The bag's name.

Unfortunately, when the brand sought to honour Diana after her 1997 death, they called it the D-bag, which is now a short-form version of a popular epithet (see: douchebag).

The tote has not yet suffered because of this association, as it has been spotted on the arm of some of Hollywood's hottest trendsetters including Diane Kruger, Kate Bosworth, Leighton Meester, Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman, according to the Telegraph.

Diego Della Valle, the son of the company's founder recently revealed that the company chose to name the bag after Diana because "She was an incredible supporter of our product," reports the paper.

May we suggest a quick change to The Diana Bag, or, even better, The Kate?
