She’s strong. She’s successful. She serves her husband breakfast in bed. Wait – what?

Television host Kelly Ripa is receiving mixed reactions after revealing in an interview with Good Housekeeping magazine that she spoils her husband Mark Consuelos.

“I make his coffee every day,” Ms. Ripa told the magazine’s Cortney Pellettieri. “I cook him breakfast in bed every weekend: scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, wheat toast, and coffee with cream. That’s what he wants. And I serve it to him on a tray.”

Moreover, although she emphasized she and Mr. Consuelos share the household chores, Ms. Ripa divulged that she’s the one who takes their children, ages 14, 10 and 9, to all their activities. The family also hires a cleaning lady to ensure the house is up to her husband’s standards.

“I can’t be married to somebody who’s as OCD-neat-freakish and germaphobic as Mark Conseulos and do it myself,” she said. (So, what share of the chores does he take on, exactly?)

In the interview, Ms. Ripa revealed she gives her husband plenty of leeway.

“I don’t give him a hard time about seeing his friends. Or for doing things independently, like taking a weekend biking trip with his racing friends,” she said, noting the two enjoy their time apart. But she also added: “I don’t give him a hard time about not doing things around the house, like taking out the trash.”

While some are applauding Ms. Ripa for doing nice things for her partner (after all, don’t relationship experts tell us it’s the little gestures that count, and that nagging about stuff like garbage duty is a marriage-killer?), others are rolling their eyes.

“Does her husband even have a job now? It seems to me like he should serve her breakfast on her day off,” one commenter wrote on US magazine’s web site. (According to IMDb, Mr. Consuelos, the former All My Children star, was in the television series The Protector in 2011.)

“Two words: Stepford Wife. Gag me with a spoon!” another commenter wrote on the web site Celebitchy.

Offering further insight into Ms. Ripa’s relationship, the television host said on her show LIVE! with Kelly this week that divorce is worse on men because their wives do everything for them, like picking up their laundry. Um....

Where do you draw the line between doting on your partner and, well, serving them?
