As the public events around the death of Jack Layton continue to unfold - with his funeral planned for Saturday - one detail has hit a more profound chord than any other for many Canadians: the letter Mr. Layton crafted on this death bed.

Snippets, including the phrase, "Love is better than anger," have sparked debate about what's appropriate in a deathbed note, been posted widely on social media, and have already been made into mementos, including posters and T-shirts.

While deathbed letters have gone viral before, such as in the recent case of Canadian blogger Derek Miller, Mr. Layton's message seems almost unprecedented in its reach.

Tell us: What would you want your last statement to be? Would your letter be sentimental, inspiring or sombre?
