For the first time in its 41-year history, fast food chain Wendy's has revamped its French fries, introducing new "natural-cut" fries that supposedly offer a "hotter, crispier taste experience with an enhanced potato flavour and texture."

The Ohio-based company boasts it's the first national chain to serve fries with the skin on and seasoned with sea salt - and it's all part of Wendy's broader strategy to appeal to customers who want more natural food.

"A year ago, Wendy's launched its Real brand position that is the foundation of our company - real products with authentic, high integrity ingredients, fresh preparation...," chief marketing officer Ken Calwell said in a press release.

Still, we're skeptical this will appeal to those concerned about eating naturally, healthfully and sustainably.

Not only do the new fries contain more salt (500 milligrams per medium serving versus 350 milligrams in the old fries), they will still be delivered frozen to stores, the Associated Press reports.
