Exploring a city? Pack HI-TEC Zuuk shoes.

HI-TEC's Zuuk is the perfect fit for light packers who put function before fashion.

How it works

They're as light as a pair of flip-flops, and the bendy EVA outsole and mesh uppers make for an extremely flexible shoe. I practically roll them up before squishing them into the corner of my carry-on case. Toggles tighten and loosen the fit, so you don't have to fuss with laces. And although they're not solid enough for a day-long mountain hike, there's enough heel and arch support to conquer a day of big-city sightseeing.

Pros and cons

After a few solid days of pavement pounding, my feet neither hurt nor stink (the removable insole is designed to combat malodorous microbes and lingering moisture). And I love that they slip off and on easily at airport security checks. You can also slide them on easily with wet feet, but be sure to take the insoles out and let them dry separately. While they're as comfortable as slippers (I have a hard time taking mine off after a long-haul flight), they're not as chic as ballet flats or fancy sneakers.

Final Verdict

Wear them on land and in water, on a camping trip or a weekend in Manhattan, but for fancier occasions, pack something more stylish. $69.99; hi-tec.com/ca/zuuk
