Train travel: Get that Rocky Mountain high for less

From Wednesday's Globe and Mail

In two decades, Rocky Mountaineer went from struggling rail service to luxe vacation experience, drawing thousands of visitors from home and abroad. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the company is offering a credit of up to $500 per couple on tours of seven nights or more. If you book by May 28 for travel this year, you can use the credit to add hotel nights, city tours, meals, airfare, car rentals or a ride on the Rocky Mountaineer Whistler Sea to Sky Climb between Vancouver and Whistler en route to your holiday. The eight-day/seven-night Western Explorer package, selling from $1,959 per person (look online under the Trip Search function), includes an all daylight rail trip through the mountains between Vancouver and Jasper as well as several days exploring Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff.
