An eco-friendly retreat set in a Mexican mountain winery.

The latest openings and events from around the world.

Valle de Guadalaupe, Mexico - Endémico Resguardo Silvestre, Grupo Habita's newest property, takes rustic chic to rugged heights. Set in the mountains of a 16-hectare winery, about 45 minutes south of Ensenada, the eco-friendly retreat is more earthy than the hotel developer's slick Mexico City properties. Twenty box-like free-standing casitas, each with a terrace and clay chimenea, are spread across the craggy terrain. Inside, the style is sleek yet simply adorned with ceiling fans. Guests can take a dip in the swimming pool and hot tub, or dine at the restaurant that's run by the Culinary Arts School of Tijuana. www.grupohabita.mx

A rotating retail gallery

New York - Bringing together an eclectic selection of New York-based online-only retailers, A Startup Store beta is a new shopping experience presenting its wares as interactive installations. Buy affordably priced contemporary artwork by Nick Cave and Tracey Emin through Artspace. Try on designer-sourced jewellery from BaubleBar and test out men's cleansers by Kiehl's and lip gloss from Lipstick Queen. While there are elements of pop-up shopping here (the space and merchandise change every four to six weeks and the current beta format runs for only one more week), this retail experience is here to stay. Feb. 1 marks the official opening of the Chelsea-based store when owner Rachel Shechtman plans to announce a permanent name and unveil a new exhibit called Love. astartupstore.com

If Tintin stayed in luxury hotels...

Brussels - Fans of the Tintin series can share their room with the famed comic book character and his fox terrier sidekick Snowy at Hotel Amigo. Four rooms at the luxurious hotel have been redesigned with memorabilia and original artwork, lithographs and figurines, some of which were donated by Tintin creator Hergé's foundation. The Hergé Suite, in particular, is a veritable treasure trove, featuring images of Tintin at main landmarks in the city and a chest filled with comic books. Take your Tintin map of Brussels and set out to explore on your own (the Hergé Museum is a must-stop). hotelamigo.com

Move over Wolseley

London - Devotees of the Wolseley can now get their fix of classic Viennese-style café dining at its sister restaurant, the Delaunay. Situated on the fringes of Covent Garden, Chris Corbin and Jeremy King's newest eatery offers their signature blend of fine dining in comfortable quarters. Settle into one of the plush booths and peruse the all-day menu that features everything from steak tartare and smoked salmon to Wiener schnitzel and Welsh rarebit. Like the Wolseley, the Delaunay is open for breakfast, afternoon tea and weekend brunch. thedelaunay.com
