Eastern Canada escape

The buy: Tremblant is offering savings on accommodation and lift tickets this winter if you book early.

The savings: 30-per-cent off lodging and 34-per-cent off lift tickets.

The catch: You have to book by Dec. 4 and purchase the Latitude Card, which gives from two to seven days of skiing for $49.99 a day. You cannot use this offer from Dec. 27 to Jan. 3.

Why it's worth it: Tremblant is regularly ranked the top ski resort in eastern North America and this offer, available Nov. 22 to April 14, can be booked at a range of four- and five-star properties.

Come to Colorado

The buy: Steamboat Ski Resort in Colorado has an early booking promotion.

The savings: 20 per cent off lodging and lift tickets, and children 12 and under ski and snowboard free. You have to book by Nov. 30 for the lodging deal and an adult has to buy five days of lift tickets for the children to ski free.

Why it's worth it: The resort is celebrating its 50th anniversary and has spent $30-million in the last five years on its facilities. Steamboat features 165 trails designed mainly for strong skiers with 14 per cent classified for beginners, 42 per cent for intermediate skiers and riders and 44 per cent for advanced.

Salt Lake's Slopes

The buy: Ski Salt Lake is offering savings to those who book packages early.

The savings: 15 to 25 per cent.

The catch: You have to book by Jan. 15.

Why it's worth it: Packages include the Ski Salt Lake Super Pass, which gives skiers access to four resorts (Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude), plus transportation to/from the slopes on Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Ski Buses as well as ski-rental discounts.

Cat Skiing in B.C.

The buy: Red Mountain Resort in Rossland, B.C., where Canada's famous ski racer Nancy Greene grew up, has a deal on cat skiing.

The savings: Close to $150.

The catch: You need a minimum of four adults.

Why it's worth it: Priced at $860 a person, this package includes four-nights accommodation, two days of skiing at Red Mountain Resort and one day of cat skiing, which normally runs from $290 to $430 a person, a day, with access to 7,810 hectares of bowls, old growth forest and gladed powder skiing.
