He’s the one in white
Travel companies are already exploiting last month’s election of a new Pope. ItalyVacations.com unveiled a seven-day Rome package entitled “Meet Pope Francis I.” Day Three (Wednesday) features a papal audience at St. Peter’s Square, which involves joining thousands of spectators for an address and blessing from the Argentinean pontiff. The tour description concludes: “We hope you had an excellent time meeting the new pope!” Similarly, the Rolling Stones hope you have an excellent time meeting Mick Jagger this spring.
Crazy cruise complaints
Cruise retailer BonVoyage.co.uk recently published a top-10 list of the funniest cruise-related complaints it’s received. One woman wanted a refund because she didn’t spot any celebrities when she travelled with Celebrity Cruises. Another one was upset that her inside cabin didn’t have a sea view, and that no one accordingly installed a window for her. A honeymooning husband complained that the ship crew did not scatter rose petals and serve strawberries and champagne daily for him and his bride at no extra cost – even though he hadn’t requested any of this. Funnily enough, the word “Carnival” did not appear on the list.
Airplanes adopting tiny toilets
You probably already find airplane bathrooms too spacious, right? Oh, perhaps not. Regardless, on some aircraft they’re about to get even smaller. A new interior design by B/E Aerospace enables airlines to add one more row of seats by reducing the washroom size. Delta Air Lines will reportedly get four extra seats on selected Boeing 737-900s, for example. This is simply blatant disregard for those who wish to change diapers – or join the mile-high club.
