A solitary fisher, a nocturnal predator, leaves delicate tracks in the snow -- which with the low winter sun become filled with shadow. And a creative snowdrift casts its own larger shadow too.

The photo was taken on January 6th, 2012. The sun was beginning to set as a mist was beginning to cover the hilltop. The effect of the mist makes the statue look as if it is ascending into heaven.

At home I am often drawn to the places where the light and shadow intertwine to create a moment that is beautiful and ephemeral.

Jan 8, 2012 Riverdale Park with shadows.

He perfectly is camouflaged when he hides at the side of a pond: he heard a noise close by: me with a camera. Their color enables them to disappear beneath branches and foliage and shadows.

The sun was low in Whitehorse on Christmas Day at 1 pm. I walked out on a frozen lake with my son, Andy. Annie, my daughter's dog, walked out to join us when this photo was taken.
