We shall see: On November 10th, 2014 a motorcycle accident left my father paralyzed and lying in a South African hospital bed. I put my life on hold so I could go and help him fight for his.

Making these photos have helped me cope and has saved me the heavy task of having to explain just how awful this is. It's all there on Instagram for the world to see. I don't need to explain it to my friends when I get home or make excuses for leaving my life behind.

He encourages me to keep shooting and to publish this work. Photography has always been a shared interest between us — after all it was him who gave me my first decent camera.

These past few months have brought us closer than ever before. The grief and stress has exposed a vulnerable and loving side of him that I always knew existed, but never thought I'd see. His health remains precarious and his care is ongoing. It is impossible to know what our lives will look like in a year. When friends and family ask, I always say the same thing: We shall see.
