The City of Chicago is marking Shakespeare's 445th birthday by proclaiming 'Talk Like Shakespeare Day.'
Taking the tide in its flood, Mayor Richard M. Daley is seizing upon the moment to promote the city's theatre companies, and celebrate in particular the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
In an official proclamation, Daley notes Shakespeare's contributions to the English language and encourages the city's residents to incorporate words such as "prithee," "thou," "fie" and "knave" into their daily parlance, and to "celebrate Shakespeare by vocal acclamation of his words."
