Denise Donlon leaves CBC Radio

TORONTO — Globe and Mail Update

Denise Donlon has left her job as executive director of CBC Radio, to be replaced by her next in command, Chris Boyce.

A former MuchMusic host who rose to become that network’s general manager, and later president of Sony Music Canada, Donlon has been in the top job at CBC Radio since September 2008. A CBC spokesman said that Donlon’s departure was part of a management restructuring.

Boyce, who helped develop various new shows, such as Q, and was most recently head of radio programming, will assume Donlon’s responsibilities, as well as remain in charge of programming.

In a message to staff, Kirstine Stewart, head of CBC’s English Services, said that the “strategies” and “objectives” of CBC Radio will remain unchanged with the new management shift.

Donlon was unavailable for immediate comment yesterday.
