For those viewers disappointed in the recent no-show of The Rapture, this series is the next best thing. The gloomy premise posits events that would likely transpire should every living person on earth suddenly disappear (with no speculation whatsoever on how that might happen). Tonight’s episode focuses on the deadly chemicals that would presumably envelop the planet without mankind to keep them in check. Computer-generated animation details how America’s heartland would be decimated and lakes and rivers would turn into acid. And the mighty Niagara Falls would dry up into a trickle. Make your honeymoon plans accordingly.

REALITY

Hollywood Treasure
Bravo!, 8 p.m.

It’s impossible not to envy someone who turns a hobby into a vocation. This series follows the daily routine of L.A.-based collector Joe Maddalena, who apparently makes a tidy living buying and selling film, TV and pop-culture memorabilia. And yes, he has a staff. In tonight’s episode, he sends off one employee in search of costumes worn by Butch Patrick, aka Eddie Munster on "The Munsters," while another minion tracks down rare comic books. And the boss? He’s busy holding an “appraisal clinic” at Hollywood mall. It’s a living.

Guy’s Choice Awards
Spike, 9 p.m.

Get ready to crank up the testosterone level. Taped last weekend, this annual awards fete celebrates all things manly and masculine, so female viewers be warned. Hosted this year by Jason Sudeikis of "Saturday Night Live," the show’s recipients will include Canadian Jim Carrey for Funniest Motherf***ker, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards for Outstanding Literary Achievement (for his autobiography, "Life") and ex-"Friends" fixture Jennifer Aniston, who receives the “Decade of Hotness” honours. Her family must be so proud.

REALITY

Ghost Hunters International
OLN, 10 p.m.

There must be plenty of people who believe in poltergeists and other otherworldly phenomena. How else to explain that this spinoff of "Ghost Hunters" has lasted for three seasons? Like the original, the show investigates reports of alleged supernatural events, except this time on an international scale. Tonight, the GHI team is in sunny Spain to visit some supposedly haunted castles. First they hit Madrid to scour a castle famed for having its long-dead owner’s bones buried within its wall; next stop, a castle in Celra, where people have reported lightbulbs unscrewing in the middle of the night.

MOVIE

The School of Rock
MuchMusic, 10 p.m.

Buoyed by a tight script and good casting, this 2003 comedy is arguably the best entry in the Jack Black film canon. The portly comic actor is instantly believable as the thirtysomething rocker Dewey Finn, who is unceremoniously dumped by his bandmates on the eve of a battle-of-the-bands competition. To pay the rent, Dewey pretends to be his supply-teacher roommate, Ned (Mike White, who wrote the script) and is soon teaching at a snooty private school. In short order, Dewey has the principal (Joan Cusack) fooled and is schooling the kids in the fine art of heavy metal music. The film marked the film debut of Miranda Cosgrove, who would thereafter achieve child-star fame on Nickelodeon’s "iCarly."
