In line at Michael Moore's new doc: 'I don’t know why I’m even standing here'

Debate breaks out in the line for the press-and-industry screening for Michael Moore’s new documentary Capitalism: A Love Story. One person behind me grumbles, “I don’t know why I’m even standing here.”

“At least he’s a good guy,” someone responds, referring to Moore. A back-and-forth ensues. It’s quickly apparent I’m surrounded by people who feel compelled to see the new Michael Moore doc, but are all too certain they know exactly what to expect. It seems most in the line have a been-there, seen-it perception before we all funnel into the theatre.

But then, after two hours of the audience laughing at jokes and snickering at the impossible-to-believe hypocrisies Moore uncovers, the cinema burst into hearty applause.
