You're Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush (2009)

Will Ferrell, who also wrote this hit Broadway show, impersonates Bush with narrowed eyes, clenched muscles and a general air of cluelessness. Bush rambles on, engages in a pas de deux with a steamy Condoleezza Rice and doles out nicknames to audience members. In a DVD extra accompanying this HBO film of the show, stage director Adam McKay observes that “Will's best at playing cocky characters who aren't really comfortable with what they're doing.”

Spin City: The Complete Third Season (1998-99)

Michael J. Fox's earlier series, Family Ties , might have been an ensemble piece but for the fact that Fox stole the show. The ensemble fared better in this sitcom about a deputy mayor (Fox) cleaning up after his boss (Barry Bostwick) while wacky co-workers (Alan Ruck, Richard Kind, etc.) get into their own scrapes. Fox, now living with and seeking a cure for Parkinson's disease, remains an impressive actor in guest roles on shows like Rescue Me. Spin City is a reminder of how good he was with total control.
