Because the mining industry has drawn attention to the issue of temporary foreign workers in recent weeks, we've highlighted the circles representing the two mining categories involved below. Employers are required to obtain LMOs – which indicate efforts made to hire locally – before they can hire foreign workers. Not all positive LMOs result in a work permit being issued.
