Two international assessments released in December gave B.C. schools high marks.

The Advanced Placement College Board gives high-school students a chance to take university courses. B.C. students' average score, in the last assessment, was 3.67, ahead of the national average of 3.43. The U.S. national average was 2.84.

As well, a report last month by the Council of Ministers of Education Canada showed B.C.'s 15-year-old students continue to score well above average in reading, math and science compared to their peers around the world. The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) tests 15-year-olds' abilities in 65 countries and all 10 Canadian provinces.
