A lawyer for haute fashion house Louis Vuitton wants three accused Canadian counterfeiters to cough up million of dollars in damages for peddling imposter goods.
Michael Manson says Vancouver-based Singga Enterprises and Carnation Fashion Company, along with Altech Productions of Toronto, are infringing on their trademark by importing fake fashions from China.
Vuitton and Burberry are suing the three defendants in federal court for what Mr. Manson says is a large-scale counterfeit ring that distributes the knock-offs across the country.
He says these Canadian companies are large-scale, importing and selling items under the trademarked names.
If Vuitton and Burberry are successful in their lawsuit, it could well be the largest counterfeit award handed out in a Canadian court for trademark infringement.
Mr. Manson says that if RCMP had more resources, the companies would not have to be in federal court suing the alleged counterfeiters themselves.
