Man charged in fatal shooting outside Vancouver shopping mall Add to ...

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Metro Vancouver’s latest brazen shooting.

Sergeant Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Edward Antonsen was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of 26-year-old Claude Deguire.

He was gunned down in the parking lot of a busy shopping centre in Maple Ridge on April 29.

Sgt. Pound said Mr. Deguire’s death was the result of a drug deal gone wrong. She said two men who were initially arrested in the killing were later released without charges because there was no evidence they were involved.

The sergeant said tips from the public led investigators to Mr. Antonsen, who was arrested at his home in Maple Ridge on Friday.
