The parents of a young woman who hasn't been seen since she was at a party late last month are asking the public for help in finding their "beautiful, caring and loving daughter."
Madison Scott, 20, was last seen in the early morning hours of May 28 at a party at Hogsback Lake, 25 kilometres south of the central B.C. community of Vanderhoof. Her parents called police after Ms. Scott failed to return home. Air, ground and water searches failed to turn up any sign of what happened to the young woman.
During a news conference Tuesday with police, Ms. Scott's mother, Dawn, and father, Eldon, issued a statement asking anyone with information to contact RCMP.
"We love our daughter, we need her back home, we need to find her. Please help us," the statement said.
"It has been 10 days since we made that difficult call to police when we realized that Maddy was missing. To understand how difficult that call was and what has happened since, you have to understand who Maddy is.
"She is a beautiful, caring and loving daughter, sister and friend. She is a passionate 20-year-old young woman who loves sports and photography. She has a great sense of humour and she loves to socialize with family and friends."
Sergeant Rob Vermeulen, an RCMP spokesman, said 14 investigators are on the case.
Sgt. Vermeulen added police are pleased with the level of co-operation they've received from members of the public, but believe more information is out there.
Ms. Scott's parents echoed that sentiment and said it doesn't matter how small or insignificant a tip might seem - it could help crack the case.
"That is why we are asking for anyone with any information to please call police. There have been many instances where information comes to us second or third hand and we are left trying to capture that information and get it to police. Any information needs to go directly to police as they are in the best position to ask the right questions and use that information to help find Maddy."
Ms. Scott is described as 5 feet 4 inches and 170 pounds. She has ginger hair and was wearing a black T-shirt and blue denim capri pants when she was last seen. Her off-white pick-up truck and tent have been recovered.
Vanderhoof has a population of just over 4,000 residents and is located about 100 kilometres west of Prince George.
