Two teenagers from Langley, B.C., are missing in the southern Interior and their half-submerged canoe has been found in Nicola Lake, just east of Merritt.

Constable Tracy Dunsmore says a full-scale search began when the boys, aged 16 and 17, did not return from a trip to the Merritt area on Sunday.

Their partially sunken canoe was spotted by a rescue helicopter early Monday morning, along the south side of Nicola Bay, about 300 kilometres northeast of Vancouver.

Const. Dunsmore says the last known sighting of the pair was at about noon, Sunday.

She says a shoreline search of the lake is underway and the RCMP dive team has also been called.

The names of the two youths have not been released.
