B.C.’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is looking into the suspicious death of a man in New Westminster.

New Westminster Police were first called to a home in the 500 block of Colby Street at 6:17 p.m. on Thursday, said New Westminster police spokeswoman Sergeant Diana McDaniel. Residents on the main floor of the home had reported hearing gunshots.

“We attended the scene and we did locate a deceased male in the basement suite,” she said.

Authorities could not confirm the man’s identity, or whether he lived at the home.
