Police say a heli-skier has been killed by an avalanche in British Columbia.

RCMP Corporal Dan Moskaluk says the 45-year-old skier died Friday afternoon near Revelstoke, B.C.

He says the victim was among a group of 11 people led by a guide who were heli-skiing in the area.

Cpl. Moskaluk says four of them were caught in an avalanche with the dead man completely buried.

The other three were only partially buried and were pulled out.

The remaining members of the group were pulled safely out of the area.

The death is the second avalanche fatality in recent days and the third this season.

Thirty-year-old Duncan MacKenzie, a long-time ski patroller, was killed in a snowslide east of Pemberton, B.C. on Thursday.

The Canadian Avalanche Centre has been warning that mild temperatures have created heightened avalanche risks throughout British Columbia.
