A second dead body has been recovered and a jet boat remains submerged beneath a logjam after it capsized Sunday on the Willow River near Prince George.

The body of the second woman was recovered Monday morning by a Swift Water Rescue Team. Rescuers discovered the body under the logjam, said Corporal Craig Douglass, spokesman for the Prince George RCMP.

The first woman was spotted by a helicopter at around 8 p.m. Sunday, approximately 700 metres downriver from where the vessel flipped. The B.C. Coroners Service identified the deceased women as Christy Schwing, 31, and Carolyn Simpson, 43. Both resided in Prince George.

Ms. Schwing and Ms. Simpson were with two men aboard the jet boat when it capsized Sunday afternoon, sending all four passengers into the frigid and fast-moving water. The boat ended up underneath the logjam, and was still there on Monday afternoon.

The two men survived with minor injuries, Corp. Douglass said.

He said that the second deceased woman was not wearing a life jacket when her body was removed from the river. He could not confirm whether any of the other three passengers wore life jackets.

No charges are being considered at this time, Corp. Douglass said.
