ENGAGE: Heritage Vancouver has assembled a panel of planners and heritage conservation specialists to address "what features contribute to the character of main streets and how this character can be maintained while allowing main streets to evolve." After the talk, there will be an open discussion. The hope is that feedback on the topic will contribute to the City of Vancouver heritage action plan, which revises how the city manages heritage conservation.

RIDE: Velopalooza is a two-week community-run bike fest. With close to 70 events planned, this is a good time to get your bike out of hibernation. You can participate in the Heron Ride & Picnic, something called Soft Serve Sunday, or just take an easy seawall cycle. Saturday is the World Naked Bike Ride.

ITALIAN DAY: Sunday is Italian Day on Commercial Drive. Walk through the gentle haze of incense and curbside barbecue smoke, to enjoy some scoops of gelato, good coffee, and tables, booths and performances showcasing Italian art. This is a car-free event.
