In hip-hop, there are no taller titans.

Producer and performer Jay-Z, who is about to become the first rapper to play Carnegie Hall, has reigned over the genre for the better part of a decade, and the ever-controversial Kanye West has become one of rap's most compelling characters – and you can catch both in one shot as they pair up to perform their biggest solo hits as well as tracks from their Grammy-nominated collaboration Watch the Throne.

The megashow features laser lights, booming bass and big screen projections of lions, tigers, bears and sharks – but the biggest element of the show is its stars, whose rapid-fire rhymes about everything from fatherhood to crime to the African American struggle could fill a small library.

Then just when you think it's all over, it's not: to wrap up the two-and-a-half hour show, the pair has been performing the track In Paris – then doing it again, and again, and again.

Jay-Z and Kanye West are at Rogers Arena Saturday and Sunday (ticketmaster.ca).
