Oprah Winfrey arrives for "Oprah's Lifeclass Tour" in Toronto in April 2012.The Canadian Press

We asked readers if they were going to see Oprah Winfrey speak at Rogers Centre Thursday night, and what they were hoping to hear. In response we heard from readers before and after the show. Here are some of the replies (edited for length and clarity, in some cases):

I want to hear her stories of inspiration and her wonderful philanthropy. She reminds us all of the circle of life and I have sent her a carved wild salmon made of recycled wood from the Fraser River because our wild salmon are icons in British Columbia and she is an icon, too!! I plan on giving her a carved sturgeon at the event because I am a volunteer director with the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society (www.frasersturgeon.com) dedicated to the conservation of endangered Fraser River sturgeon. Wild salmon and Fraser River sturgeon are two of our "favourite things" in B.C. Oprah rocks!!

She is an inspiration. Out of the back woods of Mississippi to self-made billionaire. Wow! What a role model for women! And she brought books back into mainstream. Got people reading again with her book club! It was fantastic to see her live. I paid a lot for my ticket but it was priceless!

After seeing an Oprah show taping in Chicago during her last season, I thought that was the best experience this Oprah fan could have. I am pleased to report I was wrong! Tonight's experience in Vancouver was so much more – more inspiring, uplifting and more Oprah. Tonight was an exciting call to action – for us all to live a more authentic life. In a world with so many dark moments, it is a special gift to share so much positivity and light. The icing on the cake was George Strombo's interview with Ms. Winfrey – that is an inspired pairing and lots of fun to watch.
