10 injured after car collides with horse-drawn buggy in southwestern Ontario Add to ...

Ten people have been taken to hospital after a car collided with a horse and buggy in southwestern Ontario, according to CFOS.

Provincial police say the crash happened early Thursday morning (on Highway 9) near Clifford, a small community near Mount Forest, about 60 kilometres northwest of Guelph.

They say a 2012 Volkswagen GTI collided with a horse-drawn vehicle carrying 10 people ranging in age from two to 45 years old.

Of the 10 taken to local hospitals, two were later transported by air ambulance to hospitals in London and Hamilton, but there are no immediate details on their condition or ages.

Police say the male driver of the Volkswagen was not injured and the horse pulling the buggy also was not injured.

An OPP collision investigation unit was on the scene assisting with the investigation.
