A Saskatoon man who lost his arms in an accident says he wants an apology from the police officer who recently issued him a ticket for not wearing a seat belt.

Steve Simonar can drive his car with his feet by using special pedals but says obviously he can`t put on a seatbelt. He says usually officers are understanding but recently he was issued a 175-dollar fine.

He says he`s been approved to drive by Saskatchewan Government Insurance but didn`t know the rules had recently changed requiring him to carry special paperwork.

Saskatoon police spokeswoman Alyson Edwards says wearing a seatbelt is required by law. She says there are people who are granted special exemptions, but says Simonar didn`t have that.
